The Call for Applications for the title of European Capital of Democracy 2027 is officially open until 1 November 2025.

European Capital of Democracy invites cities across the Council of Europe member states and Kosovo to apply. The title is a unique opportunity for cities that champion citizen participation, drive democratic innovation, and are ready to host a full year of visibility, exchange, and democratic leadership. This is your city’s opportunity to lead by example – and to be seen across Europe.
