Virtual Showcase Session: Improving civic participation with emerging technologies
Description
The OECD invites you to the Virtual Showcase Session of the project Improving Civic Participation with Emerging Technologies, taking place online on 22 September from 14:00 to 15:30 (CET, Paris time).
As emerging technologies like AI, blockchain, and virtual reality evolve, they open new possibilities for civic participation. But how can governments and innovators truly co-create meaningful solutions together?
Over the past year, this question has been at the heart of this project's collaborative journey across Portugal, Spain, and the Netherlands. Through experimentation, dialogue, and co-design, the project explored how emerging technologies can strengthen the way citizens engage with their governments.
This online event showcases three prototypes which have been co-created to improve civic participation:
- On Record (Portugal): A youth-focused platform combining AI transcription, summaries, and gamified engagement to support civic deliberation.
- ParticipApp (Spain): A national-scale platform where citizen contributions (voice or text, across all co-official languages) are clustered with AI to generate actionable proposals.
- ConsultationAI (Netherlands): An AI-powered tool that accelerates the analysis of public consultations into transparent draft reports.
This event is part of the project 'Improving civic participation with emerging technologies’ led by Portugal (ARTE/LabX), Spain (INAP), and the Netherlands (Digicampus), funded by the European Commission’s SG REFORM (Technical Support Instrument), and implemented by the OECD.
