BiodiverCities Atlas. A participatory guide to building urban biodiverse futures: out!

We are very happy to announce that the BiodiverCities Atlas, the main public output of the BiodiverCities project, is now published, and its digital version is available at: https://publications.jrc.ec.europa.eu/repository/handle/JRC133253.

The Atlas presents case studies from the BiodiverCities project on how to meaningfully engage citizens in the making of more liveable cities. This publication is a collection of ten stories from the cities of Palermo, Valongo, Maribor, Leiden, Lisbon, Vilnius, Varese, Novi Sad, Palma and Regalbuto

The Atlas, presents highlights, institutional and practical challenges, and lessons learnt from the local engagement processes, accompanied by several contributions from social and natural researchers.

If interested in receiving a printed copy of the BiodiverCities Atlas, please write us an email at EU-CITIZEN-ENGAGEMENT@ec.europa.eu.

We would be very happy to present this work in different venues and to different audiences, including policymakers, practitioners and researchers. If you see any opportunities in this sense, please reach out to us.

BiodiverCities was a pilot project funded by the EU at the request of the European Parliament, run by the Joint Research Centre in collaboration with Directorate-General for Environment of the European Commission. It is part of the portfolio of projects of the Commission’s Competence Centre on Participatory and Deliberative Democracy.
