Description

The Social Biking project (S-b) is a Social Network Intervention to motivate European citizens to be more physically active and use more environmentally sustainable forms of transport. It is an internet based research project based on the BikePrints app which allows users to form interactive groups and track their rides to collectively earn points which are eventually exchanged with prizes. S-b mainly targets to grow social capital among users and make cycling a social habit which will remain even after withdrawing the prizes.

Assessment

Reason for such challenges and solutions
We used the network of the European Mobility Week for recruiting local organizers who eventually recruited citizens. We face practical issues with the help of the local organizers and language barriers through a contract with an external translation company.
Recommendation
Target on organizations who are really motivated and understand the overall idea and offer them the tools to promote the idea further. Incentives are always helpful.
