Participatory Democracy at Work - Lessons Learnt from City Level Integration Policies
Description
The conference, while presenting the results and the participatory process developed along three years by the MUST-a-Lab Project within the AMIF Programmes, proposes an open but structured discussion space on some fundamental questions that European countries have to face, regarding both migrants integration policies and citizens democratic participation:
- What is the role of migrants and asylum seekers in the shaping and implementation of integration policies at the local level?
- How can their voice be heard not only in general consultations, but in the co-design of effective policies and in their implementation?
- How can principles and approaches of participatory democracy be applied to integration policies? Can an interest-based participatory approach work in this domain?
- How can cities share experience across countries, influence national and European policies and consolidate results of participatory experiments in this field?
On 28th November in Brussels (Rue Adolphe Lavallée, 39) these questions will be addressed by project partners and panels of policy makers, European Institutions and networks, Migrants Associations, migration and participation experts and other stakeholders interested in the issues. Beyond the planned panels, parallel participatory sessions are organised, giving any registered participant the opportunity to share knowledge, experience and new ideas to guarantee the sustainability and diffusion of project practical, policy and research results.
