The role of the citizens in the energy transition - H2020 ENCLUDE Project Final Event
Description
The overall vision of the EU-funded project ENCLUDE (Energy Citizens for Inclusive Decarbonisation) is to help the EU deliver on its promise of a just and inclusive decarbonisation pathway by sharing and co-creating new knowledge and practices that maximise the number and diversity of citizens willing and able to contribute to the energy transition. The projects explores the concept of energy citizenship/energy communities and how citizens may (or may not) be involved in the coming energy transition. The results of this project and this academy will feed into a platform and a playbook, that we will present during the closing event.
The morning will be dedicated to a presentation of the main results of the projects, with several guests and the afternoon will see a more dynamic session to reflect on how Enclude can contribute to ongoing or future projects.

Programme
Summary of the agenda
- Topic #1 - Energy Citizenship is for everyone! This session explores the definition of energy citizenship and builds on the work of both ENCLUDE researchers, as well as other projects on the topic which have recently ended
- Topic #2 – “What have we learned about Energy Citizenship that can be implemented by others?” This session introduces the tools that ENCLUDE has developed for practitioners wanting to initiate energy initiatives of their own and for those who want to support them.
- Topic #3 - “Looking ahead – Energy Citizenship for the Future”- Mobilizing energy citizenship can be a means of the challenges standing in the way of systemic change. This session explores how policymakers can create systems of support that would make it more likely that energy citizenship can be aligned with the goals of the energy transition. We will present our Changemaker's Guide to the Energy Transition - A new playbook for citizens
- [Afternoon] – Summary of what have we learned, what tools do we have, how can the knowledge and the tools be used in the future by all stakeholders? This session will be an interactive, action-oriented discussion of how we can all take the next steps in the application of the outputs of ENCLUDE – what are connections to ongoing and future projects? How do we extend the impact of the project?
