Bio
Adrien Licha is Coordinator of the Secretariat at ALDA, the European Association for Local Democracy. Fully convinced that sustainable development must be reached at the local level, he has been a local government advocate since 2012, both in his professional and private life. In previous positions he had the chance to work along many local governments from the Middle East and Western Asia, as well as with European national associations involved in decentralized cooperation. Involved in many ways in the international municipal movement, he is happy to contribute to help local democracy saving democracy.

ALDA has more than 30 years of experience in the field of participatory democracy. Initially created to reconnect civil society with local authorities in the Western Balkans, its domain of expertise and countries of activities have evolved to reach 40 countries in EU, the Western Balkans, the EaP, Southern Neighbourhood, Türkiye and Africa. Through several thematic hubs ALDA applies its knowledge and experience of participatory processes to address challenges in the field of civic engagement, migration, youth, environment, digitalisation, Human Rights, Gender and Social Inclusion.
