Ir. Cécile Nys joined IFREMER (Institut Français de Recherche pour l'Exploitation de la Mer) in October 2022 as Project Manager in the European and International Affairs Department. Since July 2023 she’s (Interim) Coordinator of CSA project PREP4BLUE.
She graduated as a Bioengineer (Agricultural Engineer) in the "Management of Forests and Natural Areas" from Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech (ULg). She also acquired a second specialization in the "Management of Fisheries and Coastal and Continental Ecosystems" at Agrocampus Ouest (Institut Agro Rennes-Angers).
She has over 8 years of professional experience in various scientific and technical fields, disciplines and sectors including fisheries, ocean management, stakeholders’ engagement, marine spatial planning (MSP), the maritime sector, finance sector, energy suppliers’ sector, certification and data management. She has been working in three different countries (France, Belgium, Spain), is multilingual (FR-NL-EN-ES) and used to working in multicultural teams. She worked in the academic sector (UBO, Ifremer and OceanScope), the private sector (Alpha Card and Selectra) and also in an association (France Filière Pêche).
During her career she has contributed to various marine related national, European and international projects and Research Infrastructures: EMODnet & EMODnet Secretariat, ODATIS, H2020 Blue-Cloud, RI DATA TERRA, ANR COPiLOtE, EMOD-PACE (China-Europe Cooperation), Phidias, GEF Blue Forests, H2020 Ecopotential, GIFS (Fishery governance) and SIMNORAT.
