Deborah W.A. Foulkes
Organisation
Complex Systems Governance Researcher and Activist
Bio
Deborah W.A. Foulkes, a former university lecturer in translation, now devotes herself to improving humanity's collective intelligence for dealing with the polycrisis in order to prevent civilisational collapse and preserve the Earth for future generations. She is an independent complex systems governance researcher and deliberative democracy activist.
She has certifications in complexity, chaos, agent-based modelling etc. from the Santa Fe Institute; in Ethical Leadership from Harvard Business School; in Futures, Strategic Foresight, and Futures Leadership from various others; and basic NetLogo and Python programming skills. Currently, she is enrolled in the University of Michigan course 'High Stakes Leadership: Leading in Times of Crisis.'
She designed the innovative geospatial sortition methodology for the world's first global citizens' assembly, the 2021 Global Assembly on the Climate and Ecological Crisis, and created and led the workgroup to develop a permanent Constituency Citizens' Assembly (CCA), an adaptation of the East Belgium Model, for Independent candidate Dr. Faiza Shaheen in the 2024 UK General Election. She is open for collaborations that would benefit from a complexity, risks, and futures thinking and strategic foresight approach, and which embrace multilinguality as an enhancement of our collective intelligence rather than as a communication 'problem' to be 'solved'.
